Engineer Trainee

Two brothers, George and James Weir, found the engineering firm of G & J Weir. The brothers, descendants of Robert Burns, produce ground-breaking inventions in pumping equipment – primarily for the world famous Clyde shipyards and the steam ships being built there.

In 2024, we launched our refreshed brand – Mining technology for a sustainable future – reflecting our commitment to delivering innovative end-to-end solutions that accelerate the transition to smart, efficient and sustainable mining. The acquisition of Micromine in 2025 marked another milestone in that journey, signalling our intent to build a sector-leading digital optimisation platform and advance more sustainable mining practices.

1. Customer Support: Provide process and technical assistance to customers with a primary focus on Weir’s cyclone product line. Collaborate effectively with both internal and external sales teams, as well as engaging directly with customers.
2. Provide Technical Solutions: Use internal software tools to size and select hydro cyclones. Conduct field visits as needed to gather data, measure, sample customer processes, and compile information to formulate and deliver hydro cyclone solutions to customers.
3. Cross-departmental Support: Provide technical support to internal teams such as Engineering, Sales, and Marketing, and assist other designers and engineers by providing guidance and feedback
4. Maintain Relative Documentation: Prepare customer proposals, reports and presentations related to cyclones.

1. Bachelor / Master’s degree in Mineral Processing
2. 1-2 years of mineral processing experience
3. Exceptional oral and written communication skills
